Job description

The governors at St. John’s Walham Green CE Primary School are seeking an experienced School Business Manager to join the leadership team of our school. 

The School Business Manager (SBM) is the school’s leading support staff professional and works as part of the Leadership Team to assist the Headteacher to ensure that the school meets its vision and educational aims.

The successful individual will play a key role in overseeing the non-teaching aspects of school development, supporting the school in providing an exceptional learning environment and experience for our children and community. The role encompasses responsibility for the strategic development and operation for the business functions of our school. This includes financial resource management, ICT and information management, facility and property management, health and safety, strategic operations for human resources as well as statutory compliance.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and inspirational person with:

  • An SBM or accounting qualification or equivalent experience

  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills

  • The ability to lead a team and train others in required skills

  • Sound experience of financial management and budgetary planning and controls

  • Working experience of human resources management

  • An excellent working knowledge of ICT systems, including financial software and Excel

  • Proven experience of Arbor, FMS & SIMS

  • Excellent organisational, entrepreneurial, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • An understanding of Health and Safety legislation and how this relates to facilities management

  • Drive and commitment to take us forward into the next phase of our school’s development

  • The ability to organise your work under pressure and reach deadlines.

  • A desire to contribute to the Christian ethos of the school
