Senior Electronics Engineer

Mytos
Full-time
On-site
London, United Kingdom
Engineering, Scientific
You rarely get the chance to change an entire industry. But that's the position we find ourselves in. Join us, and you’ll unleash scientists, accelerate their research and help get cures to patients sooner.
We’ve developed machines to fully automate human cell production - the most manual process in Biotech. Cells are used to discover and develop new drugs, and now they're being used to treat cancer too. Mytos will impact cure development across the board.
We're live in multibillion dollar biotechs on both coasts of the US, and raised $19m to expand into the market faster, and accelerate our development!
We’ve assembled a world-class team to take on this challenge, with ex-Dyson engineers and Nature-published scientists working hand-in-hand. You can learn more about your potential Mytos teammates here: Team
Mytos is backed by Y Combinator, the most successful startup program in the world which produced companies such as AirBnb, Dropbox, and Ginkgo Bioworks.

This is an opportunity to work on projects at the interface of engineering and biology. When you join us, you’ll get to:

    • Take responsibility for all electronic engineering and firmware matters within Mytos.
    • Tackle control challenges, work on robotics and orchestrate an array of sensors and actuators to make high reliability systems that grow cells effortlessly.
    • Refine our test rigs, quality processes and data, and harness them to improve our sprint velocity and help us move faster.
    • As part of a multi disciplinary team of HW engineers, SW engineers & Biologists develop new prototype electronics, PCBs and firmware to solve our users problems.
    • Continue to improve our devices and refine them for production, closely collaborating with our internal production team on instructions, jigs & processes.
    • Help shape our engineering culture and processes so that we keep continually improving. You’ll enjoy the autonomy, accountability and customer-focus that we bring to our work.

We’d love to hear from you if:

    • Building great products iteratively and incrementally is important to you. You build in failsafes, design robust MVPs and nothing would delight you more than building modularity into our electronic engineering capability.
    • You don’t consider yourself a traditional electronics engineer. While you’ve designed multi-layer PCBs with varying complexity, you’re also comfortable writing embedded firmware in C/C++ for board bring-up, (real time) systems with closed loop control and solved signal-processing challenges using Python or similar
    • You understand the importance of good design and testing so you’re familiar with object-oriented firmware design and unit testing frameworks for embedded systems
    • You would be excited by working on challenges which are not always directly in your area of expertise, be that controlling a camera module using a Python SDK or rapid prototyping using a 3D printer.
    • You’ve designed circuits for power conditioning, signal filtering, constant current drives, controlling multiple motors in a system and integrating microcontrollers.
    • You’ve designed robust electronics architectures for distributed systems which contain electro-mechanical actuators
    • Experience developing products compliant to the machinery directive and/or devices in a regulated GMP environment

Salary and Benefits:

    • Competitive salary with stock options
    • Lunch covered daily
    • Collaborative team environment with very high potential to learn new skills
    • 24 days holiday (excluding bank holidays)
    • Pension
    • Awesome colleagues and an office in the Imperial College Innovation hub in White City, where you’ll be based.
    • Because of the HW device aspect of this role, we are unable to support remote-first working and potential colleagues must be happy to work from our lab.
We’re building a team that enjoys moving fast and not killing cells, strives for continuous improvement through learning from mistakes and is passionate about work that contributes to solving real world problems.
We get excited about meeting potential colleagues from broad scientific/engineering backgrounds and who share our enthusiasm for unconstrained innovation and understanding our users.
