Job Summary
A highly respected specialist school in Hammersmith is seeking a dedicated and caring 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide one-on-one support to a student with specific special educational needs (SEN), adjusting your approach to meet their unique needs.
  • Assist in implementing individualized learning plans in collaboration with the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Support the student's emotional, social, and academic growth, encouraging participation in class activities.
  • Adapt materials and teaching methods to facilitate the student’s engagement and progress.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure a coordinated approach to the student’s development.
  • Maintain accurate records of the student’s progress, contributing to the regular review of their learning plan.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment, adhering to safeguarding and child protection policies.

Qualifications and Skills
Essential:

  • Experience working with children with SEN in an educational or similar setting.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build a positive, supportive relationship with students.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications, such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant certification or equivalent.
  • Experience with specific SEN, including Autism, ADHD, or sensory impairments.
  • Knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
