A specialist school in Hammersmith and Fulham is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced KS2 Primary Teacher to join their dedicated team. In this role, you will teach small classes of students with special educational needs (SEN), primarily focusing on Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, while fostering a nurturing environment that supports their academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, tailored lessons for KS2 students with SEN, including those with autism, ADHD, and moderate learning difficulties.
  • Work closely with the SENCo, therapists, and parents to create and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) that meet the specific developmental and educational needs of each student.
  • Use creative, hands-on teaching methods, sensory activities, and differentiated learning approaches to ensure accessibility and engagement for all students.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that encourages confidence, independence, and a passion for learning.
  • Regularly assess student progress, adapting lessons and teaching strategies to ensure every child reaches their full potential.
  • Lead and collaborate with teaching assistants to provide consistent support for students.
  • Communicate with parents and carers to share updates on student progress and discuss strategies for ongoing development.
  • Participate in school training, initiatives, and professional development to enhance your skills in SEN education.

About You

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification, with experience teaching KS2 students.
  • Have a proven track record of working with students with SEN, ideally in a specialist or inclusive setting.
  • Be knowledgeable about SEN teaching strategies, behaviour management, and the KS2 curriculum.
  • Demonstrate patience, creativity, and empathy in supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Possess excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills, collaborating effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
  • Be committed to continuous professional development and passionate about inclusive education.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS check and the legal right to work in the UK.
