Job Summary

A leading specialist school in Hammersmith is looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity to support students with additional needs in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide 1:1 support for a student with specific special educational needs (SEN), tailoring your approach to meet their individual requirements.
  • Assist in implementing individualized learning plans under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Foster the student’s emotional, social, and academic development.
  • Facilitate participation in class activities, adapting materials and teaching strategies to support the student’s engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team, including teachers, therapists, and parents, to ensure a consistent approach to the student’s progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of the student’s progress, sharing updates with the team and contributing to reviews of their learning plan.
  • Promote a safe and supportive environment, adhering to the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential:

  • Experience working with children with SEN in a school or similar setting.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build a positive rapport with students.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant certification or equivalent.
  • Experience with specific SEN, such as Autism, ADHD, or sensory impairments.
  • Understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
